چکیده
Group Hospital were accepted as educable by ten Education Authorities and they were transferred to appropriate schools. In addition three children under 5 years were found on admission to be of average intelligence. All forty-four children had been admitted to this hospital of approximately 700 beds for low grade mentally defective children. It was considered that the progress of these educable children would be of interest, and this survey presents the status of the children on 1 July, 1956. Two children have been excluded from this survey. One was a girl who, after 5 years and 9 months in this hospital, was accepted as Educationally Subnormal. She had been at school for 7 years by 1956, but on 1 July, 1956 she and her family could not be traced. It seems likely that she is still considered educable. The other, a boy with multiple handicaps, returned home to await a special school vacancy but he was admitted to a hospital unit for severely handicapped boys where some education was provided.
